Priced neatly under the $300 mark, the Confidence GTR Pro is a great option to get you ready for summer. Targeted primarily towards those who are looking to skip the gym and have something of their own in the comfort of their homes, the motorized treadmill is an option worth checking out for treadmills under $500.
- Easy assembly, taking about 20-30 minutes.
- Three adjustable incline settings.
- Top speed of 7.5mph (12 km/hr).
- 12 workout programs.
- The motor is quiet. Lightweight (62 pounds/28 kgs).
- Easy to fold and store.
- Safety Emergency Stop feature.
- Two cup holders on each side.
- The deck lacks in surface area. Being only 43.5 inches long, it is not necessarily apt, especially if you are above 6 feet tall and take up more with each stride.
- The belt is rather slippery and has no cushioning.
- The treadmill is known to be slightly shaky at higher speeds.
- The computer has no screen light.
- The belt can be high maintenance and must be lubricated monthly for smooth performance.
- Loud control panel.
- This product does not come with a warranty.
- Dimensions: 52″ L x 25.2″ W x 52 H
- 1.5HP motor with a speed range of 0-7.5mph
- 43.5″ x 15.75″ running area
- 12 built-in programs
- Three manually adjustable incline levels
- Folding for easy stowing
- 260 LBS weight capacity
- Heart rate monitoring through pulse grips
Considering the price of the Confidence GTR Power Pro, it comes with an interesting set of features. Availability of a heart rate monitoring system is quite rare at this price point, and the 3 level incline is a nice addition, although it cannot be adjusted on-the-go. Finally, the 12 programmable workouts are a welcome addition and bring some welcome variation to your workouts. Programs are divided into 20 segments and are usually set to run at a particular speed for 30 minutes, but this is adjustable and can be set anywhere between 5-60 minutes, which is nice.
The Confidence GTR Power Pro also, quite remarkably, comes with an emergency stop clip. If attached to your clothing, it will automatically stop the treadmill should you fall.
This treadmill is perfect for walking and jogging cardio but is not necessarily the best option if you are looking for high-intensity running cardio routines. The model is notorious for having a slippery belt, so that is another reason not to run on this one.
The 62 lbs weight comes as both a good thing and a bad one. While it is extremely lightweight and easy to move around, it also feels a bit poorly made. The machine can be shaky and unstable at higher speeds, even if you are well below the 260 lbs weight limit.
The motor runs rather quietly, but the console’s occasional beeping sound interrupts the silence. The readings are in kilometers, which could be a bit alien to those who are used to miles. Lack of cushioning can be a problem to a few people, but the 3 level incline and varied workout programs serve as a fair tradeoff.
The model comes packed in a state where it is already mostly assembled. The main work is in connecting the arms and display to the body, and the whole procedure does not take more than 20-30 minutes. The instruction manual is not the most accurate, and you may have some extra screws left, but that is nothing to be concerned about at all. The whole setup is fairly straightforward and easy.
This treadmill is priced lower since it somewhat uses sub-standard components. That being said, it will still serve buyers for a long time (from 2 to 5 years) given that the usage and maintenance instructions are followed.
The GTR Power Pro is an ideal treadmill candidate for novice trainers who are not looking for highly sophisticated and advanced features. Equipped with an interesting range of 12 workout programs and a heart rate monitor, the treadmill is a good way to burn calories from the comforts of your home.
It goes to say that this was not designed for running: the 1.5HP motor leaves much more to be desired, and the small running surface is a bit of a bummer.
All this being said, the Confidence GTR Power Pro is still a decent treadmill for its price, and has features that are hard to find at this price point.
