Build Quality
The Exerpeutic Heavy Duty features a dual direction flywheel for frontwards and backwards workout possibilities. By striding backwards, you have the unique ability to work entirely different muscle. The 21 inch stride length represents a 15% longer stride than other comparably priced elliptical machines. Floor levelers automatically level the elliptical to any floor surface. The machine also features dual Sensor Pulse pads on the additional stationary handle bars to provide heart rate monitoring. The patented “Dura Tight” tension system never needs adjusting. The rails of the elliptical are cast aluminum and will not scratch or dent. Wheels offer an easier way to move the machine, but it is still suggested that two people move it at once, as it is a heavier machine at 167 pounds fully assembled. The dual workout arms are padded to ensure a comfortable grip.
Assembly
The machine will ship in two packages, and has to be fully assembled by the owner. It is recommended that two people take on the assembly, but one person should be able to do so within 2 hours. The instruction manual is easy to read and well written, however no lubricant is provided. It is important to remember that in order to keep your machine from squeaking, lubricant such as WD-40 should be applied to all bolts and screws before they are tightened down.
Heart Rate Monitor
This elliptical features your basic heart rate monitor that tracks your heart rate through the pulse sensor pads. The pulse sensor pads on the handles track your heart rate, but this isn’t the most accurate way to do so. However, to use the sensors as accurately as possible, be sure to grip the stationary handles firmly, wrapping your hand around them and keep your palm tightly against the sensors.
Display and Console
The Exerpeutic Heavy Duty features an easy to read high intensity LCD window display that is not only large, but back lit in blue. The useful monitor displays your speed, the time that has elapsed during your workout, the distance you’ve traveled, the calories you’ve burned, your pulse rate, RPM and your recovery.
Programs
There are no preset programs in the Exerpeutic Heavy Duty 21 Inch Pro Stride’s console.
