Build Quality
The trainer has aluminum made extrusion incline structure and ball bearing rollers. There are Krayton rubber comfort grips and a frame made of welded heavy gauge steel. The side cases are made of high impact ABS plastic. The foot paddles are cushioned with extra wide EVA cushion to enhance comfort. As an extra layer of protection from rust, there is a coating of anti-rust power on the body. It has a weight capacity of 325 pounds. However, the problem lies with its weight. It is one heavy machine that will give you a very hard time while moving it from one place to another. So I keep it at a place where it can just lie still without me needing to move it that often. It also takes a whole lot of space. So finding the right place in your house for the machine can be a bit tricky. Another major drawback with this trainer is its fixed stride. The stride length is fixed at 19 inch which you won’t be able to change.
User Friendly
This trainer is one of the most user friendly tools I have ever come across. The control panel is right in front which you can use to choose a workout program manually or simply select one of the pre-programmed workout programs. The quick start button allows you to get started with the training at ease. However, this machine doesn’t come with the cooling fan, speakers or any kind of music plug-ins that you will have in many other trainers these days. They did place a rack or more of a book holder though. So if you want to read something while exercising, this will come handy.
A trainer for anyone
This trainer is designed in such a way that both male and female and even kids (kids should be supervised while using the trainer just to be safe) can easily use it for training . This one one of the few elliptical that was designed for special workout for woman.
Assembly
Now this is the hard part with this elliptical and that is because the parts are really heavy. For me, it is a two person job. Yet, it will require some sweating to put it altogether.
Heart Rate Monitor
Heart rate can be monitored with this elliptical in two ways. Usually I go for the chest strap. But you can also try the sensor bars installed in the handlebars that will give readings of your heart rate on the display.
Display
The green LED console display of the machine shows a variety of information including the total time I have spent for exercising, the incline, calories burned, intensity level, the distance I travelled, speed and so on. Means, you will have access to all the vital information that you need about the changes happening to your body as a result of the effort that you are putting in it. There are four different data display windows available with this machine and each of them can be selected by an individual button.
- Green LED dot matrix profile
- Alphanumeric message display with program instructions
- 4 Data display windows with individual Select button for each data group
- Program buttons with LED indicators
- Heart rate bar graph display
- Polar compatible heart rate receiver and hand held contact heart rate receiver
- Built in reading rack
Programs
One thing that I love most about the Diamondback 1260Ef Elliptical is the variations in the programs. There are fifteen different programs and twenty resistance levels included with this trainer to give you the variation you need when it comes to exercising. The classic program package includes manual, interval, random cross, sprint and hill climb. However, personally I am a great fan of the heart rate interactive programs. There are five different heart rate interactive programs included with this machine- cardio, target, fat burner, interval and hill. Glute burner, total trainer and quad builder are the three cross training programs that you can try.
- 5 Classic programs with Quick Start option – Manual, Random cross, Interval, Hill Climb and Sprint
- 5 HR interactive programs – Target HR, HR Interval, Fat Burner, HR Hill and Cardio
- 3 Cross training programs – Glute Burner, Quad Builder and Total Trainer
- HR Lock function to quickly enter Target HR program at anytime
- Personal Trainer function to enhance the total body workout
- 2 Custom programs
- Built in Warm up and Cool down modes
Warranty
I get a lifetime warranty on the frame, 1 year warranty on labor, five year warranty on the electrical and mechanical parts and a 90-day warranty for the wear items. Overall I think the warranty package is pretty decent in comparison with the other trainers in the market.
Altogether, when it comes to Diamondback Fitness 1260Ef Elliptical Trainer, I think you get a solid, well built trainer with a long list of options to try out. Though the weight can be an issue with it, if you can simply put it at some place where you won’t need to move it that frequently, this is not going to be much of a problem.
